Resource, perspective, dream of an afterlife to be explored, a place of exchange and war: “Cities and Water” will be the theme of the second edition of the Medieval Cities Festival, scheduled in L’Aquila from Thursday, July 4th to Sunday, July 7th, 2024, at the Auditorium del Parco.
The Medieval Cities Festival, an event that emphasizes the immeasurable value of historical dissemination to the general public, will be a long reflection on the importance of water as a foundational, historical, commercial, and identity-defining element for cities in the Middle Ages, through a series of high-level meetings with historians, archaeologists, artists, writers, and journalists.
The days will be punctuated by major macro-themes: Seas and Oceans and Water in Everyday Life (Friday, July 5th); Stories Around Water (Saturday, July 6th); Rivers of Europe and Maritime Republics (Sunday, July 7th).
The morning of July 6th will conclude at 11:30 a.m. with a talk by Federica Zalabra, Director of the National Museum of Abruzzo – L’Aquila, entitled “From Water and Spirit. Meanings and Symbolism in the Works of the National Museum of Abruzzo”.
