The National Museum of Abruzzo in L’Aquila will also be open on Mondays from March 2 to May 25, 2026, offering guided tours led by MUNDA staff for visitors wishing to explore the new MUNDA exhibition, which opened to the public on December 20.
On the ground floor, visitors will be able to admire the introductory exhibition dedicated to the history of the city of L’Aquila, the Castle, and the museum. The exhibition is divided into three rooms, featuring immersive installations and a visual narrative from the Castle’s 16th-century foundation to the present day.
Other rooms feature glass-printed floors depicting historic city plans, and on the first floor, the new exhibition itinerary from the Middle Ages to the 16th century, the heart of the museum’s extensive permanent collections.
MuNDA has also developed an accessible and inclusive itinerary with:
- Tour itineraries dedicated to the blind and visually impaired, along with two facilitated guides for people with intellectual disabilities, created using materials in Easy-to-Read language and Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC).
- Five stations for IRIDE, an innovative multimedia system that transforms the museum visit into an immersive, personal, and surprising experience. The heart of the project is an impressive 3.5-meter-long and 1.2-meter-high Touch Wall, a true “digital canvas” that the public can explore with the simple touch of their fingers.
- An immersive room on the ground floor where visitors can enter a captivating environment by watching a video that tells the history of the monument through a multimedia language capable of emotionally engaging the viewer.
Guided tours, free and included in the admission ticket, will take place at 11:00 am on the following days:
March 2, 16, and 30
April 13 and 20
May 11 and 25
Reservations are required for school groups and groups, subject to availability, by 12:00 pm on the previous Friday
