Views of Heritage

Photography meets MuNDA
Index

“Views of Heritage” (Looks at Heritage) is a project organized by MuNDA – Museo Nazionale d’Abruzzo in L’Aquila and the Slow Photo Cultural Association, which unites art, culture, and memory through a series of photography encounters held in the Amiternum Archaeological Park.
The collaboration aims to combine artistic experience with cultural promotion, encouraging participants to develop a conscious and creative perspective on cultural heritage and the places that host it.

This photographic journey represents a unique opportunity to revisit Abruzzo’s historical and archaeological heritage with fresh eyes. The meetings will provide moments of exchange, education, and inspiration, where the camera becomes a tool for storytelling and cultural promotion.
The collaboration between MuNDA and Slow Photo stems from a shared desire to promote the region, educate people about conscious photography, and build a dialogue between cultural heritage and contemporary life.

The meetings, aimed at photographers and enthusiasts of all levels, will consist of photographic exploration walks and will be led by a photography instructor. They will also include brief introductions to the visit by archaeologist Ilaria Trafficante, who will delve into the history of the Roman city whose ruins now form the Park, as well as the study of light and perspective shots of the Park.

This is a way to deepen participants’ understanding, allowing them to gain new perspectives on a place that is a symbol of regional history. In addition to the two walks, there will be a hands-on photographic printing session where participants will experience silver gelatin printing in a real darkroom.
