Description

Key work of the Aquilan Renaissance, with this piece Silvestro establishes the iconography of Saint Sebastian in Abruzzo, whose devotion was widespread during times of plague. Commissioned by Domenico di Antonio Caprini along with the abbot of the monastery of Santa Maria del Soccorso, with a document dated 1st December 1478, which also included the creation of a painted altarpiece depicting the stories of Saint Sebastian to enclose the statue of the martyr.
