Description

Along with the panel depicting Jesus the Pilgrim, this painting was used as a shutter for the urn containing the body of Blessed Bernardino da Fossa, a champion of the Franciscan Observance. His body was moved in 1515 from the Aquilan convent of San Giuliano to the convent of Sant’Angelo d’Ocre. The lower part of the composition was cut by about 45 cm, and to restore harmony to the piece, it was integrated with neutral tones during a restoration in 1967.
