Description

This portable devotional altarpiece, composed of two hinged panels with locking hooks, is an artwork of the Abruzzese painter Andrea Delitio, artist of the transitional period between the Late Gothic and Renaissance. The left panel depicts the Madonna Adoring the Child, who holds a small animal (possibly an ermine), in the presence of Saint Catherine; the right panel shows the Crucifixion with mourners. The altarpiece displays an expressionistic style still rooted in Gothic artistic traditions.
