Description
The fresco, detached from the church of the monastery of Benedictine Celestine nuns in L’Aquila, depicts the Virgin sitting at the foot of the cross while she holds up on her womb the lifeless body of the son, mourned by the Saints Catherine of Alexandria, Scholastica and Mary Magdalene as one can read in the entry: SCA. CATERINA: SCA. MARIA ORA PRO NOBI[S]; SCOLACTICA; MARIA MAGDALENA.
