The twenty-first edition of the European Museum Night will take place on Saturday, May 17th. This initiative involves museums across Europe with the aim of promoting European cultural identity across the Union. The National Museum of Abruzzo is participating in the initiative with special evening openings of the Mammut and its Borgo Rivera branch from 8:00 PM to 11:00 PM (ticket office closes at 10:30 PM) for a symbolic fee of €1.
Free admission will be provided by law.
Free guided tours of the two museum spaces, subject to availability, are included in the admission ticket. These tours are scheduled at 8:30 AM and 10:00 AM, both in the eastern bastion of the Castle and in the Borgo Rivera branch.
European Museum Night has been organized since 2005 by the French Ministry of Culture, specifically by the Regional Directorates of Cultural Affairs (DRAC), and enjoys the patronage of UNESCO, the Council of Europe, and ICOM France. Its aim is to encourage and promote awareness of national and European cultural heritage and identity. The initiative takes place on the Saturday evening closest to International Museum Day (ICOM), May 18, to which it is also conceptually connected. It is headed by the French Ministry of Culture and is sponsored by UNESCO, the Council of Europe, and ICOM.
