Description

The fresco, attributable to the Byzantine culture that spread from the Abbey of Montecassino throughout central Italy, is a fragment, discovered in 1970, of a larger decorative scheme from a religious building incorporated into the fortifications of the Ocre Castle.
Thanks to the inscription next to the halo, the bishop saint on the left has been identified as Saint Nicholas of Bari. The saint on the right, due to the sumptuousness of her royal attire, may be identified as Saint Catherine of Alexandria.
