The two panels originate from the so-called Polyptych of Paradise, one of the known examples of this anonymous Abruzzese master’s work for Franciscan convents in the region. The artwork, now dismembered and divided between the MuNDA, the Barbella Museum in Chieti, and the Franciscan Museum in Rome, shows the date 1489 on one of the panels. Like its companions displayed in this room, the polyptych illustrates the popularity that this iconographic type enjoyed in Abruzzo within the Observant Franciscan context.
