Description

This sculptural group follows an iconographic scheme widely adopted in Abruzzo during the late 15th century, featuring the Child lying naked on the Mother’s lap, depicted with her hands joined in the act of adoration. The wooden sculpture, hollow at the back, was originally intended to be placed against a wall. This model was particularly popular in the region; a similar work of nearly identical composition is preserved in the Church of Madonna delle Grazie in Teramo.
