UnivAQ Street Science: Research at the MuNDA Science Center: Inside the Restoration

Index

On September 27, the National Museum of Abruzzo will participate in the 2024 edition of UnivAQ Street Science with two events:

MuNDA Science: Inside the Restoration: Starting at 9:00 a.m., the gazebo set up in the park of the Castello dell’Aquila will illustrate the diagnostic and analytical activities used in the three-year period 2022-2024 for the restoration of over 25 works from the National Museum of Abruzzo. Curators include Stefano Ridolfi, a cultural heritage diagnostician, art historian Giulia Ristori, a PhD student in art history, Simona Ferrauti, and restorer Chiara Bianchi. Several restoration cases will be presented, considered a critical activity that cannot ignore scientific investigations.

Opening of the Castle Mammoth: The eastern bastion, housing the impressive and rare fossil of Mammuthus meridionalis, will be open from 9:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. (last admission 6:30 p.m.) and from 7:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m. (last admission 10:30 p.m.). Educational tours are available from 9:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m., provided by Museum staff.

MuNDA, located on Via Tancredi da Pentima, will close at 7:30 p.m. (last admission at 7:00 p.m.).
