Description
The Museum’s new life began on December 19, 2015, with its reopening in the architectural complex of L’Aquila’s Ex Mattatoio, located in Borgo Rivera, across from the famous Fountain of the 99 Cannelle.
After careful repairs and renovations between 2010 and 2015, the new temporary home now houses, protected by advanced anti-seismic measures, a selection of around sixty archaeological finds and 112 paintings, sculptures, and goldwork, from the Middle Ages to the Modern Age.
These masterpieces testify to the identity, history, and vitality of the entire region’s culture, some of which were recovered from the rubble of the earthquake and given new life thanks to complex restoration projects.
