On September 10th at 6:00 PM, the National Museum of Abruzzo will participate in the A.R.C.A. project – Art, Regeneration, Community, Living – with a fourth public meeting in the Municipality of Barisciano. Art historian Daniele Lauri will speak at the meeting, aimed at raising awareness of the Madonna and Child from the Convent of San Colombo in Barisciano.

The meeting, which will take place in the Municipal Council Chamber at 6:00 PM, will feature Fabrizio D’Alessandro, Mayor of Barisciano; Daniele Lauri, art historian at MuNDA; and Silvia Di Gregorio, artistic director of the project.

The goal of the A.R.C.A. project, which will run for five months from July to November through international artist residencies, school workshops, inclusive activities with local associations, and participatory art initiatives, is to transform art into a true engine of social regeneration, engaging local communities as active participants in a shared cultural process.

The project will feature 11 artists from various countries in 11 municipalities in the 2009 earthquake zone: Barisciano, Acciano, Fontecchio, Fossa, Ocre, Poggio Picenze, Sant’Eusanio Forconese, Scoppito, Tione Degli Abruzzi, Tornimparte, and Villa Sant’Angelo. Each community will engage residents, associations, and cultural institutions through meetings, workshops, training and performance activities, exhibitions, and presentation and presentation events.

The project, promoted by eleven municipalities in the Crater area and coordinated by artistic director Silvia Di Gregorio, is funded by the Restart Program – Priority C and aims to enhance the artistic, landscape, and human heritage of the areas affected by the earthquake, offering new perspectives to younger generations.

In addition to MuNDA, the initiative is also supported by the University of L’Aquila, the MAXXI L’Aquila, the Teatro Stabile d’Abruzzo, The Current (USA), AppStart Onlus, the Comunità 24 Luglio, and numerous local and international artists.
