Description

The original provenance of this artwork, entered in the museum’s collections in modern times, is unknown. The unfinished back of the statue suggests it was originally part of a tabernacle, now lost. The saint holds in her left hand the book symbolising her wisdom, while her right once bore the palm or the wheel of martyrdom. The figure’s pictorial and facial features are attributable to the Master of Campo di Giove.
