Description

The painting, executed by Vittorino Scarselli a few years before the master’s death, depicts Teofilo Patini standing three-quarter-length, with his arms crossed behind his back. A tribute by the pupil to the master, the portrait stands out for the sober and resigned appearance of the painter from Castel di Sangro who, now in his sixties, emerges powerfully from the canvas thanks to the use of a mellow colour and a skilful use of chiaroscuro effects.
