From Thursday, July 4th to Sunday, July 7th, 2024, the National Museum of Abruzzo – L’Aquila will participate in the second edition of the Festival of Medieval Cities, organized by the University of L’Aquila and the Municipality of L’Aquila.
The Festival, whose theme is “Cities and Water,” will be a long reflection on the importance of water as a foundational, historical, commercial, and identity-defining element for cities in the Middle Ages, through a series of high-level meetings with historians, archaeologists, artists, writers, and journalists. The days will be punctuated by major macro-themes: Seas and Oceans and Water in Everyday Life (Friday, July 5th); Stories Around Water (Saturday, July 6th); Rivers of Europe and Maritime Republics (Sunday, July 7th).
The morning of July 6th will conclude with a speech by Federica Zalabra, Director of the National Museum of Abruzzo – L’Aquila.
During the four Festival dates, it will be possible to visit the Mammoth of the Cinquecento Castle, in addition to the usual daytime hours from 9:00 am to 7:00 pm (last admission at 6:30 pm), also from 7:00 pm to 11:00 pm, with last admission at 10:30 pm.
On July 7th, Sunday at the Museum will be held, an initiative promoted by the Ministry of Culture that allows free admission to state museums and archaeological parks every first Sunday of the month.
The MuNDA headquarters on Via Tancredi da Pentima, opposite the Fontana della Rivera, will be closed during the evening hours.
