L’Aquila, October 23, 2026, 3:30 PM

The Clarinet Ensemble was formed as part of the educational activities at the L’Aquila Conservatory, with the primary goal of enriching the studies of young musicians. This workshop-based project is designed to provide students with valuable opportunities for stage experience, allowing them to engage in a wide variety of performance settings and interact directly with an audience. By exploring the repertoire written for this specific instrumentation—which incorporates various members of the clarinet family, from the small (sopranino) clarinet to the bass clarinet—students are able to refine the complex dynamics of ensemble playing within a professional concert environment.

The program for the October 23rd concert, which will take place in the loggia of the National Museum of Abruzzo, offers a diverse and captivating musical journey, specifically curated to highlight the nuances and timbral versatility of the clarinet ensemble. The musical itinerary begins with the elegance of Viennese Classicism, featuring the timeless melodies of W. A. Mozart, followed by the playful and brilliant tribute “Mozart on Parade” by P. Schickele. The program continues with such masterpieces as the Prelude to Act I of G. Verdi’s “La Traviata” and the refined Neoclassicism of the “Pulcinella” Symphony by I. Stravinsky. The concert concludes by exploring more modern sounds and driving rhythms, moving from the melodic lines of R. Cardon’s “Claribel” to the vibrant, warm South American atmosphere of L. Fancelli’s “Acquarelli cubani” (Cuban Watercolors).
