On Sunday, September 26, starting at 6:00 PM, at the conclusion of Univaq Street Science 2021, the historic Rivera district will host “Borgo in Festa.” This initiative, which confirms the National Museum of Abruzzo’s openness to interinstitutional collaboration with local organizations, sees the synergistic commitment of the University of L’Aquila, the Department of Human Sciences, and the Municipality.
The MuNDA has made available new spaces, never previously used for events, the path along the walls inside the Museum, with a special evening opening and free admission starting at 6:00 PM, when the “celebration” will open with a concert by the vocal and instrumental group “Concentus Serafino Aquilano.” Tastings of typical products organized by Confcommercio will follow, and finally, from 8:30 PM until 11 PM, the new video mapping “The Voice of the City: From Its Foundation to the 16th Century” will be projected onto the walls of the 99 Spouts Fountain, reconstructing key episodes in the city’s history.
The screening, lasting approximately 10 minutes, was made possible thanks to the contribution of the University of L’Aquila and the Department of Human Sciences as part of the Excellence Project (2018-2022), which is developing a series of initiatives on the study of media and their language.
The Municipality of L’Aquila supported the initiative, believing it particularly significant that science and art have conceived the valorization of one of the oldest villages. During the Street Science event, it will be able to provide a stage for a new vitality, combined with the flavors of the area, in the belief that this is the path the city can follow to promote its strong cultural and scientific identity, developing the themes of higher education that the area offers.
An interdisciplinary exchange, therefore, with a shared integrated project where digital, research, memory and cultural heritage will converge, through augmented reality technology, to revisit the public fountain of the 99 spouts, the oldest civic monument in L’Aquila, composite, yes, but unitary, of profound charm and originality, among the most important symbolic elements of the L’Aquila community.

THE PROGRAM
