April 25th: Opening of the National Museum of Abruzzo

On the occasion of the 80th anniversary of the Liberation, on April 25, 2025, the National Museum of Abruzzo in L’Aquila will be open to the public free of charge with the usual admission conditions:

  • The east bastion of the Castle, which houses the fossil skeleton of the mammoth, will be open from 9:30 am to 6:30 pm (last admission at 6:00 pm); the MuNDA headquarters on Via Tancredi da Pentima (formerly the Slaughterhouse) will be open from 8:30 am to 7:30 pm (last admission at 7:00 pm).
    During the week, the Borgo Rivera headquarters will not be closed from April 21st to 27th.

Reservations are required for groups of more than 20 people by emailing mn-abr.urp@cultura.gov.it

The ticket is valid for a single visit to the east bastion and the National Museum of Abruzzo, located on Via Tancredi da Pentima, on the same day.

The Amphitheater and Theater of the Amiternum Archaeological Park will also be open to visitors with free admission during the following hours:
Amphitheater from 8:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m.
Theater from 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.

Guided Tours

  • Guided tours of the National Museum of Abruzzo and the Mammoth Museum at 5:00 p.m. are available by telephone reservation at 0862.28420.

Tickets

The free ticket is valid for a single visit to both museums on the same day and can be purchased directly at the ticket office or on the Italian Museums portal at www.museiitaliani.it or on the Italian Museums app.
