During the Ferragosto holiday weekend and throughout the month, the National Museum of Abruzzo will be open continuously at its two locations:
At the Castello Cinquecentesco, you can visit the Mammoth, the imposing fossil dating back 1,300,000 years. The bookshop, specially set up and managed by Opera Laboratori Fiorentini, offers a line of mammoth-themed merchandise made from sustainable materials.
Inside the East Bastion, QR codes are available on the panels for in-depth thematic information in Italian and English, including audio players, and are published on the Museum website. Reservations are required only for groups of 20 or more people at: mn-abr.urp@cultura.gov.it.
- Hours: 8:30 AM to 7:30 PM (ticket office closes at 7:00 PM).
- And from the 23rd to the 27th, for the Perdonanza, the Mammut will be open in the evenings from 8:00 PM to 11:00 PM (ticket office closes at 10:30 PM).
At the MuNDA on Via Tancredi da Pentima (formerly the Slaughterhouse), opposite the 99 Cannelle, the exhibition “The Master of Campo di Giove. Recomposing a Masterpiece” is underway. Curated by Federica Zalabra and Cristiana Pasqualetti, it features a unique display: virtual devices, educational panels, tactile panels, and QR codes for in-depth thematic explorations. For the first time, the heritage illegally stolen from Campo di Giove 121 years ago is being exhibited, a reassembly made possible by the synchronous and joint action of various protagonists, which has enabled the recovery of the 14th-century tablets, the largest narrative cycle dedicated to the Saint.
