Republic Day Opening with free admission of the National Museum of Abruzzo

Index

In 2025, in addition to #domenicalmuseo (12 days a year), the Ministry of Culture has also scheduled three additional dates with free admission to cultural sites: April 25, June 2, and November 4.

This year, June 2, marking the anniversary of the birth of the Republic when, on June 2, 1946, Italians were called to the polls to choose the institutional form (monarchy or republic) and to elect the members of the Constituent Assembly, will be followed by the June Sunday at the Museum, the Ministry of Culture’s initiative that provides free admission to all state-owned cultural sites on the first Sunday of every month.

The Borgo Rivera branch of the National Museum of Abruzzo and the east bastion of the 16th-century Castle, featuring the fossilized mammoth skeleton, are open to the public during the following hours:

  • Borgo Rivera branch of the National Museum of Abruzzo from 8:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m., with last admission at 7:00 p.m.;
  • the east bastion of the Castle from 9:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m., with last admission at 6:30 p.m.
  • The Theater and Amphitheater of the Amiternum Archaeological Park are always open with a separate free ticket, open from 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.
