Each year, the Ministry of Culture celebrates the International Day of Persons with Disabilities on December 3rd. Under the slogan “One day a year, all year round” it promotes its underlying values, committing to ensuring the best possible access to cultural heritage.

Proclaimed in 1992 by the UN, the day focuses public debate and discussion on the universal right to full and effective participation in the political, social, economic, and cultural spheres of society and on the need to contribute to the elimination of all obstacles that hinder respect for fundamental human rights.

The National Museum of Abruzzo in L’Aquila, aiming to pursue a gradual process to ensure the elimination of obstacles to the full enjoyment of its museums and their contents, and in particular to support cultural activities in sign language (LIS), is organizing a guided tour in sign language (LIS) of the exhibition “Between Form and Figure” on December 1st at 11:00 a.m. Fulvio Muzi and Experimental Painting in the 1960s, inaugurated on September 28th and open until December 8th, 2024.

Sofia Leocata, a tour guide and sign language interpreter, will lead a guided tour in sign language (LIS) of the exhibition curated by Federica Zalabra and Paolo Muzi, aimed at deaf people, at 11:00 a.m. on December 1st. The tour is designed for a maximum of 20 people; if more people register, a second tour will be held after the 11:00 a.m. tour.
