Openings and guided tours at MuNDA during the Christmas, New Year’s and Epiphany holidays

The National Museum of Abruzzo’s museums will remain open during the Christmas, New Year’s, and Epiphany holidays as described below, and guided tours will be offered, included in the ticket price.
The Castle’s eastern bastion, which houses the fossilized mammoth skeleton, will be open to the public continuously from December 26th to 31st and from January 2nd to 6th, 2025, from 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. (last admission at 5:30 p.m.).

Reservations

Reservations are required for groups of more than 20 people by emailing mn-abr.urp@cultura.gov.it.

On December 28th and 29th, the Castle’s restoration depots will also be open to the public, with tours at 9:00 a.m., 10:00 a.m., and 11:00 a.m.

Opening Hours

The MuNDA headquarters located on Via Tancredi da Pentima (formerly the Slaughterhouse) will be open on December 24th, from December 26th to 31st, and from January 2nd to 6th, 2025, according to its usual hours, from 8:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. (last admission at 7:00 p.m.).

The Amphitheater of the Amiternum Archaeological Park will be open on December 23rd and 24th, from 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.

The Theater and Amphitheater of the Amiternum Park will be open daily from January 2nd to 6th, 2025, from 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.

All museums and the Amiternum Archaeological Park will be closed on December 25th.

On January 1, 2025, the Borgo Rivera museum and the eastern bastion of the 16th-century Castle will remain open to the public from 3:00 PM to 7:00 PM.

On January 5, 2025, the National Museum of Abruzzo’s exhibition spaces will be open to the public with free admission for the “Domenica al Museo” initiative.

On January 6, children entering the eastern bastion of the Castle and the Borgo Rivera museum will receive a free copy of the comic book “Quattro Chiacchiere” by artist Spugna, from the “Fumimetti nei musei” series published by Coconino Press, subject to availability.

Guided Tours

At the Borgo Rivera museum, on December 26, 28, and 29, 2024, and January 4 and 6, 2025, at 4:30 PM, free guided tours led by Museum staff will be available, included in the ticket price.

Availability is subject to availability, with 25 seats available, and reservations are not required.

Tickets

The ticket is valid for a single visit to the eastern bastion and the National Museum of Abruzzo, located on Via Tancredi da Pentima, on the same day.

Free for children under 18

The sites of the Amiternum Archaeological Park are always free to visit.

Tickets for the National Museum of Abruzzo can be purchased directly at the ticket office or on the Italian Museums portal at museiitaliani.it or on the Musei Italiani app.
