Restoration Thursdays. The restoration of Francesco di Paolo da Montereale’s Nativity of the Virgin.

As part of the “Restoration Thursdays” series of meetings, on April 3rd at 4:30 pm, restorer Emanuele Marconi will illustrate the multidisciplinary restoration of the panel painting, the Nativity of the Virgin, painted after 1531 by Francesco Di Paolo da Montereale, which will be exhibited again in July 2024 at the Museo Nazionale d’Abruzzo in L’Aquila.

Emanuele Marconi earned a master’s degree in Conservation and Restoration of Cultural Heritage – Painted Artifacts on Wood and Textiles, Sculpted Wooden Artifacts, Wooden Furniture and Structures, and Artifacts Made of Synthetic Materials, Assembled or Painted, from the Conservation and Restoration program at the Carlo Bo University in Urbino.

He owns the sole proprietorship Emanuele Marconi, specializing in the conservation and restoration of mural paintings and stucco, polychrome wooden sculptures, and panel paintings. He has supervised the conservation reviews of numerous works exhibited in temporary exhibitions, as well as annual maintenance, conservation reviews, and restoration projects on works belonging to many important museums throughout Italy.

At the end of the presentation, art historian Daniele Lauri will lead a guided tour of the restored work.
