Madonna del Carmine with Saints Charles Borromeo, Francis of Assisi, Mark the Evangelist, Anthony of Padua, and Catherine of Alexandria

The drawing, executed in brown ink wash with traces of black and red pencil, depicts a Madonna del Carmine with saints. Above, surrounded by angels, the crowned Virgin holds the Child close to her. In the lower register, five saints can be recognized in the foreground. On the left, Saint Charles Borromeo, dressed as a cardinal and holding a book, gazes out at the viewer; in the center, with an open book and a lion at his feet, stands the figure of Saint Mark the Evangelist; behind him, Saint Francis on the left and Saint Anthony of Padua on the right, recognizable by the lily, are in a position of adoration; on the right is the only female saint, Catherine of Alexandria, recognizable by the sword and broken wheel placed at her feet near the lion of Saint Mark. The landscape in the background is barely visible.
As can be seen, the work is constructed through the characteristic technique of assembling sheet clippings, superimposed and glued together, on which Bedeschini intervened to correct errors and second thoughts, or modify the compositional aspect.
