Seated on a richly decorated throne and draped in a garment that falls to the ground in detailed and elaborate folds, the Virgin presents the nude Christ Child seated on a cushion. The sculpture preserves part of its original polychromy and shows numerous traces of gilding in the folds of Mary’s robe. It was originally placed on a now-lost base, which bore the artist’s signature and the date 1498.
