Description

Historically attributed to Saturnino Gatti, recent studies suggest that the author of this terracotta Nativity is actually Giovanni Antonio da Lucoli, an Abruzzese artist nfluenced by Verrocchio. The figures of the Madonna and Saint Joseph, reassembled after the 2009 earthquake that had shattered them, have been secured with a sophisticated internal steel structure developed by the Istituto Superiore per la Conservazione ed il Restauro.
